i've started a new flickr group if anyone would like to play. it's a very casual, play when you like sort of thing, combining photos and haiku. i have a film school background, so i enjoy combining words and images. i thought this might be a fun way to explore that sort of creativity.
i'm not very good at haiku, but i like the idea of it and of narrowing thoughts/feelings down into just that little bit. it's kind of an interesting exercise to try to compose one. i read a book recently called "the elegance of the hedgehog" where one of the characters creates a haiku for each of her journal entries and it was fascinating to see how the journal entry really explained the haiku (without the entries, i don't think i would have understood the haikus at all - but i can see how people might get into them, kind of like little word puzzles - deciphering the meanings).
anyway, join up here, if you'd like. it's called "do u haiku". i've also put it in the sidebar under my "projects" heading. see it over there? you can click on that as well and it will take you straight over to where you can start haiku-ing away. you don't have to be good at it or anything to play - like i said, i'm not very good in the least bit - i've even posted a link on my flickr site to someone who seems to really know what they're doing when it comes to writing haiku, just to give you a few ideas. feel free to link me to any others you might know of.
i'm hoping to see rather creative, possibly weird but enlightening entries about everyday life. the possibilities are limitless. people are so inventive. it's amazing to see what they come up with. and everyone is so unique. love that.
hope to see you there soon!
have a pleasant evening.
