today we made cinnamon buns and ate them all steamy hot and cinnamon-y. they were good, but kind of cakey and not so roll-ish. probably because we are experimenting with different flours and mixed in a bunch of rice flour and some gluten-free mix with the spelt/wheat. still, they were good and the house smelled like freshly baked sweet bread all morning. mmmm.
that last photo is going in the haiku pool. so many good things happening over there.
if you're interested in playing along with the haiku poetry thing but aren't sure how to add words to pictures: first of all, you don't have to add the words onto the picture. you can put them below the picture in your description, if you'd like. secondly, try picnik! it's rather great free software that allows you to do all kinds of things with your photos. i have a lot of fun over there. just go to www.picnik.com and upload a photo. then go to "create" and click on the "text" tab at the top left. then, type in whatever you want to say and hit "add". at that point, you can fool around with colors and fonts and sizes, etc. have fun with it.
hope to see you there! have a lovely evening.
Looks so yummy! I love cinnamon rolls but I'm allergic to cinnamon. I have to settle for something made with different spices. :-(

hi there,
that's so interesting. i've never met anyone who was allergic to cinnamon before. that's so great that you know it though so you can avoid it! i just realized i'm allergic to tomatoes. they give me geographic tongue which is very weird. so now i'm trying to avoid them. meanwhile we have a ton growing in our front yard!
try making rolls with another spice and please let me know if you do. we love to experiment in the kitchen around here.
thanks so much for the comment! i love your blog.
take care,
tifanie ;)

It wasn't so pleasant figuring out the allergy. In elementary school I always thought I got a tummy ache only because I ate too many cookies, twists, buns, rolls, etc. Then one day in the 8th grade it got worse. I won't go into details but let's just say I was feeling pretty sick. I noticed in Japan they use cinnamon in a more conservative way. In fact the raisin bread doesn't have any cinnamon in it. Also, my brother-in-law avoids cinnamon. For rolls and such I use a little nutmeg and cloves. It's not the best but it's better than nothing.
It must be difficult dealing with a tomato allergy. I don't suggest experimenting with your health but I wonder if the home grown tomatoes would be OK. Might be a good idea to have an epi pen around the house if you don't already.
I'm glad you enjoy my blog. Hmmm ... I better update it soon.
